The mission of the La Crosse Housing Authority is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable living environment free from discrimination.
The La Crosse Housing Authority (LHA) is a public agency which helps people who meet income and other eligibility guidelines secure affordable, safe and quality housing in the City of La Crosse, WI. The LHA is one of 3,300 public housing authorities operating in the United States. Like other housing authorities, we comply with all federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements in the development and operation of our housing programs.
LHA currently administers a portfolio of nine hundred seventy-one units of combined Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Mainstream Voucher, Section 8 New Construction and Project-Based VASH Voucher Programs.
We are governed by a board of five commissioners, who live in our community and have been appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the La Crosse Common Council.
